That’s when you can reply, “I’m not sure, but let’s find out.” Then you and your teens get the experience of learning something together, and you can give guidance not only on how to use the tech, but how to teach ourselves, and how to learn from other people collaboratively. Also, I think once you have some of those climactic moments of discovery– where things suddenly click, or become personally relevant — that will be the motivation that pushes you to keep going. It may not ever be “easy,” because hopefully you’re always challenging yourself, but at some point you can look back and see how far you’ve come and appreciate the work it took to get there!
